WWE plans to capitalize on nostalgia with the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14. But, that night won’t be the only night the 80s classic concept that helped promote the Golden Era of wrestling makes its mark. According to WrestleVotes Radio, WWE plans to produce five special Saturday Night’s Main Event shows between now and the end of 2025.
Saturday Night’s Main Event Won’t Just Be One Night
Of the five specials WWE plans to produce, one of these events will be strategically timed ahead of WrestleMania 41, amplifying the hype of the company’s biggest show of the year.
As mentioned, the first of these highly anticipated events will take place on December 14 at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. Airing at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and simulcast on Peacock. WWE has heavily promoted the event and while the card isn’t set, they have promised a star-studded lineup. Speculation is that WWE is going retro, blending the classic elements that defined Saturday Night’s Main Event in the past with the upscale production value of WWE today.
These specials will also be part of the key programming and the buildup toward their biggest premium live events. Each event will be stacked and treated like its own PLE.

What Should Be The Main Event Of Saturday Night’s Main Event In December?
Saturday Night’s Main Event is coming back in December for WWE. But what should be the main event?
I think this event is the perfect time for WWE to pull the trigger on Cody Rhodes facing Jacob Fatu in a title defense. I don’t like the match as a PLE match, but for a network special I do like it.
WWE Is Smart To Call Back Upon A Classic
WWE’s strategy of leveraging its rich history to engage both nostalgic fans and new viewers is smart. Saturday Night’s Main Event, which originally aired in the mid-1980s and was a crucial part of WWE’s mainstream breakthrough, holds a special place in wrestling lore. By bringing it back in a meaningful way, WWE is giving older fans something they love and introducing new fans to the iconic show.
These old episodes were must-see television moments that included Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Randy Savage, and others. These new events will include the biggest stars of today.
Fans can expect these specials to not only serve as a nod to the past but usher in the future.
