Marlow & Sons will close after service this Sunday April 6, the south Williamsburg mainstay announced on its Instagram.
The closure is due to a rent increase, founder Andrew Tarlow wrote in an email.
“My businesses have always been deeply rooted in a time and a place and now is the time to end this chapter for Marlow,” Tarlow wrote.
The building owner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Opened in 2004 by Tarlow and Mark Firth, Marlow & Sons helped define a new era of Brooklyn dining, with its peak-millennial decor in a rustic chic dining room tucked behind a general store. It became part of a miniature empire with restaurants like Diner, the butcher store Marlow & Daughters, and She Wolf bakery.
Since then, the neighborhood has transformed dramatically, with the Williamsburg waterfront now home to luxury high-rises and new developments.
Marlow & Sons is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. all week until its Sunday closure.
