We will have more to say on this over the coming days.
But think about this: a random loss in October doesn’t mean too much now. That is fortunate for Alabama, but somewhat unfortunate for Vanderbilt, who straight up won this game. It was not a fluke, they took it from Alabama and took it to Alabama.
Hats off to them. They earned it…unlike a lot of defenders, who presumably won a lottery. Because there’s no reason at this level of football that aspirational NFL players should be awed and confused by the naked boot.
So, what does Coach DeBoer have to say after losing the most embarrassing game (in name, at least) that this program has experienced since Louisiana-Monroe?
Fortunately, for Alabama, the new reality is that a midseason October loss just does not mean much of shit now. This is NFL-light. Everyone is going to be afforded grace to lose a dumb game almost every year because it matters 1. Who ESPN wants in the playoffs, and 2. Who’s No. 1 in January, not October 5th.
So don’t meltdown, folks. You’re going to see a lot of this with an expanded playoff. We’ve already seen it two or three times this season. It just sucks it had to be us though.
Respect everyone in the SEC. Everyone has players. Hopefully the staff has learned message now.
