NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Mild weather will continue through the start of the week, but big changes are on the way for the Gulf Coast.
Highs near 80 degrees are expected Sunday and Monday under partly cloudy skies. Overnight lows will stay warmer than recent nights, with temperatures dipping into the 60s. While fog is unlikely, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in place through Monday night due to higher-than-normal tides.
Rain and storms will develop late Monday into Tuesday as a cold front moves through. Heavy rain is the primary concern, with 2 to 4 inches expected east of Interstate 55 and 1 to 2 inches farther west. Localized flooding could become an issue, and more rain is possible along the Mississippi coast.
Cooler air will follow the front, with highs in the 60s and lows dropping into the 40s or upper 30s by Thursday morning. Breezy winds will make it feel even chillier later this week.
