Valero Texas Open 2025 golf betting preview
Are we all excited?
We should be, given that the US Masters tees off at iconic Augusta National next Thursday.
In the meantime, the PGA Tour lays on a second straight event in Texas and 27 of those playing in the year’s first Major are teeing it up and honing their games at TPC San Antonio.
The course – a 7,438-yard par 72 – has staged the Valero Texas Open every year since 2010 so there’s plenty of relevant form to go at.
It rewards accuracy and strong ball-striking and, as it’s Texas, winds play a part too.

Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg is the favourite and he’s also one to watch in next week’s Masters having finished runner-up on his Augusta debut last year.
Other storylines here include Tommy Fleetwood trying to win this first PGA Tour event and Corey Conners attempting to win this tournament for the third time following wins in 2019 and 2023.
Both are joint-second favourites at 16/1.
⛳ Valero Texas Open 2025 golf betting tips
Jordan Spieth the best bet
Jordan Spieth has given his home Texas fans plenty to cheer about in this event.
He won the tournament in 2021, was runner-up here in 2015 and added another top 10 last year.
Spieth continues to be a great watch and has flashed some eye-catching form this year with fourth at the WM Phoenix Open and ninth at last month’s Cognizant Classic where his approach play looked sharp.
One extra angle is that Spieth has a superb record in the build-up to the game’s biggest events.
He’s won twice the week before a Major and that’s a great fact to lean on if worried about him focusing too much on next week’s Masters.
🏌️♂️Back Spieth at 25/1 each-way (1/4 odds, 5 places) with bet365 ⛳
Tommy Fleetwood to beat Ludvig Aberg in match bet
Aberg v Fleetwood looks a pretty evenly-balanced 72-hole match bet and yet the Englishman is a clear 23/20 underdog to beat the Swede.
My money is definitely on Fleetwood.
Both played this event last year and Fleetwood (T7) outscored Aberg (T14) by three strokes.
Fleetwood’s current form is also far more consistent.
Aberg had the high of winning the Genesis Invitational but Fleetwood has beaten him on the other three occasions when the Ryder Cup teammates have teed it up in the same event.
Fleetwood has made the top 16 in his latest four events and, incredibly, has reeled off 15 straight top 25s starting with his silver medal at last summer’s Olympics.
🏌️♂️Back Tommy Fleetwood to defeat Ludvig Åberg at 23/20 with Ladbrokes ⛳
Tom Hoge for Top 10
Tom Hoge is an option in the outright market this week at 80/1 but if you want to tread a little more cautiously, back the American for a top 10 finish at 8/1 with Betfred.
The former Pebble Beach winner has a ninth and a 12th at this week’s venue and returns on a high after finishing tied third in the prestigious Players Championship at Sawgrass
Hoge ranked 2nd for Strokes Gained: Approach at Sawgrass and that’s a key stat this week.
🏌️♂️Back Tom Hoge for a top 10 finish at 8/1 with Betfred ⛳
