Actor Val Kilmer, who starred in many high-profile films, including “Top Gun,” “Batman Forever” and “Tombstone,” has died, The New York Times reported late Tuesday night. He was 65 years old.
Kilmer, who played Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in the original “Top Gun” in 1986, died in Los Angeles from pneumonia, according to his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer. The actor was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014, but recovered from it, she said.
He most recently appeared in “Top Gun: Maverick” in 2022 to reprise his infamous role as Iceman.
In recent years, Kilmer spent time painting and was described as “a talented and prolific artist in a variety of mediums” on his website.
