ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A man is in custody for a fatal shooting earlier this month in University City.
According to the University City Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened just before 3 p.m. on March 4 near the intersection of Appleton and Sheridan drives.
Police found the victim, a 35-year-old man, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting was recorded on video, investigators said.
Police eventually identified and arrested Vernon Bruce for the shooting. Bruce allegedly admitted to the crime during interrogation.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Bruce with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Bruce remains jailed without bond. He’s due in court on Friday, March 21, for a bond hearing. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 17.
