U Mobile has appointed Kenneth Chang (pic), who has 30 years of ICT and internet industry experience, as its deputy CEO, effective 28 March 2025.
Chang, aged 52, is a founding director of U Mobile. He has been instrumental in shaping the company’s strategic direction from its inception, playing a key role in securing the company’s 3G licence and driving its growth trajectory. In his new role, Chang will oversee regulatory, business strategy, communications, and sustainability functions. He will also lead strategic stakeholder management to navigate the company’s dynamic business environment while continuing to serve as a director on U Mobile’s board, a role he has held since 2006.
He has also served on the company’s executive, audit, and remuneration committees.

His broad experience and expertise will be invaluable as U Mobile embarks on a new phase of growth as the future licensed 5G network facilities provider,” said Wong Heang Tuck, CEO of U Mobile.
Chang is also the founder and executive director of Web Commerce Communications Limited and Qinetics Solutions Sdn Bhd, leading providers of internet services in the Asia Pacific region and enterprise solutions, respectively. He holds a bachelor’s degree (honours) in electronic engineering from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.
