SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Two players from the San Diego Gulls have been called up to the Anaheim Ducks’ roster.
Right winger Sam Colangelo and defenseman Tyson Hinds will join the Southern California National Hockey League team from its minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League.
The move comes as the Ducks placed center Mason McTavish on Injured Reserve.
During the 2024-25 with San Diego, Colangelo, 22, scored a team-leading nine goals in 14 AHL appearances (9-5=14) and ranks second among team leaders in points and plus/minus (+4). Colangelo, who was drafted in the second round by the Ducks in the 2020 NHL Draft, played three games for them, scoring his first career goal in his NHL debut in 2023-24.
Hinds, who was selected by Anaheim in the third round of the 2021 NHL Draft, has appeared in 84 career AHL games with San Diego but has yet to make his NHL debut. This season, the 21-year-old has scored two goals (2-0=2) in 13 appearances with the Gulls, earning 4-8=12 points with 48 penalty minutes (PIM).
