NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Portraits honoring three New Orleans leaders were unveiled on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Officials and students at the Jones Academy for Girls located in the Tremé area, held a special ceremony to unveil portraits of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Susan Hutson and former Chief Justice Burnett Joshua Johnson.
The academy’s CEO Andrea Jones says the event is to celebrate Cantrell’s, Hutson’s and Johnson’s “groundbreaking contributions and lasting impact on the community.”
The Jones Academy for Girls opened in 2022 with a mission to break down barriers to quality education and empower girls with the tools they need to succeed.
The school follows the motto “Cum Sapientia at Gratia” meaning “With Wisdom and Grace.”
