AMA, La. (WGNO) — You can see it in his game face that his game plan is simple.
Play to win.
And he does as WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood is figuring out.
His name is Jeff Roux.
He’s a 78-year-old Louisiana guy, after a career in the Navy as a sailor.
Cruising around the world and collecting all kinds of games.
Board games, antique games.
And when asked why, “The games are there. You can just buy them for 25 cents or 50 cents, so I picked them up and I just kept going.”
Enough to fill every corner in his four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bedroom house in Ama, about half an hour south of New Orleans.
Jeff Roux served as a sailor for 25 years as an advisor to the British Royal Navy.
And overseas is where he started snooping around antique shops.
For more than 30 years, he’s been snooping and gathering games and when you collect like Roux, there is no end game.
If he can just find another place to put the next one.
