MORGAN HILL – A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of flashing a handgun and threatening an employee at a Morgan Hill Target, according to police.
The incident was reported around 7:45 p.m. Monday at the store at 1061 Cochrane Road, the Morgan Hill Police Department said in a statement Friday.
Police said a loss prevention employee saw the teen leave the store without paying for several items. When confronted, the teen “displayed a handgun and made threatening statements,” police added. The employee backed off and let the teen leave.
Officers later identified the teen and arrested him during a traffic stop Thursday. A search warrant was also served at the teen’s home in Morgan Hill. Detectives found several of the stolen items, as well as firearms and drugs, police said.
The teen was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of brass knuckles.
