MARY G. JOLLEY
CIRCUIT JUDGE
With the ruling, the civil case is officially closed. This past February, a settlement between the two parties was reached.
Sytch was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the deadly crash. At the time of the crash, Sytch’s blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit. She is currently serving a prison sentence that will see her being released in 2039.
The initial lawsuit against Sytch alleged negligence on her part and that the Lasseter family sustained medical and funeral expenses due to Sytch’s actions and that Julian Lasseter’s adult daughter “has suffered, and will suffer into the future, the loss of her father’s companionship, instruction, guidance, and mental pain and suffering as a result of her father’s death.”
