ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Emiko Sverduk’s second round 1-under 71 highlighted the University of Hawai’i women’s golf team’s performance on the first day of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Monday at the UNM Championship Course.
The 71 tied the low score of the second round and vaulted her up the leaderboard to a tie for 45th with a 152 total. As a team, the Rainbow Wahine sit in 14th place at 622 with rounds of 314 and 308 on Monday.
UNLV holds the team lead at even par 576, seven strokes ahead of Big West members Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State (583). Pepperdine’s Lauren Gomez has the individual lead at 6-under 138 followed by Fullerton’s Davina Xanh (139) and LBSU’s Jasmine Leovao (140).
Making their UH debuts were Lauren Pierce (77-78=155; t-61st), Maline Kraus (77-80=157; t-67th), and Syamala Varnika Achanta (79-79=158; t-70th). Rounding out the UH contingent was Kellie Yamane (81-80=161; 80th).
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the final round beginning at 7:30 a.m. MT.
