A suspect stole a car in Bangor over the weekend while a baby slept inside it.
The car’s owner was unloading groceries at their Blue Hill East home about 8 p.m. Saturday when they came outside to find it gone, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
There was a baby sleeping in a safety seat in the back, McAmbley said Monday.
Police soon found the stolen car abandoned with the driver’s door open and still running in the middle of a nearby intersection. The baby was still asleep inside, according to McAmbley.
Officers are still looking for the suspect. Anyone with information about the theft can call the Bangor Police Department at 207-947-7384, ext. 5745. Anonymous tips may be left at 207-947-7382, ext. 3, or on the department’s app at tip411/BangorMEPD.
