NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Showers and thunderstorms will taper off this evening as temperatures cool down into the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Lingering moisture has kept the chance of storms around this afternoon, but activity will wind down after sunset. Areas of fog are expected to develop overnight, particularly inland, lasting through the morning hours before clearing as temperatures rise.
Wednesday afternoon, highs will reach the mid to upper 80s with some inland locations hitting around 90 degrees. A few isolated showers may pop up, but they’ll be quick to disappear as the sun sets.
By Thursday, sunny skies and dry conditions will take over, thanks to a high-pressure system moving in. This will bring warmer daytime temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s, but nights will cool off with lows in the mid to upper 60s.
For the weekend, expect clear skies and no rain. Daytime highs will stay in the upper 80s and lower 90s, while overnight lows will dip into the 60s and lower 70s.
A potential cold front could move in by the middle of next week, possibly leading to cooler weather. As we approach fall, this is also a time to monitor potential tropical development in the Caribbean.
