Berlin (d.de) – Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has opened the 9th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD). Under the motto “Energy Transition – Securing a Green Future”, ministers and delegations from more than 60 countries will engage in discussion with representatives of business, academia and civil society. Debate will focus on strategies for the intelligent transformation of global energy systems towards climate neutrality. In addition, several bilateral agreements will be adopted between Germany and partner countries such as Chile, South Africa and Ukraine seeking to deepen existing climate and energy partnerships. Baerbock said that the “massive shift to renewable energies” was urgently necessary. She also stressed: “At the same time, it presents a huge economic opportunity for both companies and nations.”
The Federal Government has hosted the BETD since 2015. More than 2,000 people accepted the invitation to the German capital in 2023.
