St. Roch Market, a historic food hall shaping New Orleans cuisine since 1875, is teaming up with award-winning BBQ teams to raise funds for this year’s Hogs for the Cause, a nonprofit providing financial relief to families battling pediatric brain cancer.
At St. Roch Market, vendors lease space to showcase their unique offerings, creating a dynamic, all-day dining experience for both locals and visitors. The market focuses on supporting New Orleans’ culinary talent while providing a flexible and scalable platform for food entrepreneurs.
An exception, the Hogs for the Cause local BBQ teams will have a rotating schedule in a singular open vendor stall, for a short period of time, leading up to the annual festival.
From March 21-26, Trailer Pork Boys, a local BBQ team, will serve breakfast and lunch daily at St. Roch Market, with dinner service on March 22 and 23.
The menu features smoked Chicago-style Italian beef, smoked turkey, pulled pork, breakfast tacos and a Maine-style smoked brown butter shrimp roll available exclusively on Friday, March 21.
On Saturday, March 22, Team Wet Wet will also be at St. Roch Market, offering an assortment of baked goods, Lucy Boone Ice Cream and, of course, mouthwatering BBQ.
Friday March 28, Team Fleur De Que will be teaming up with Frankie and Johnny’s to serve boiled crawfish. Most notably, 13-years-in-a-row running fundraising champions, FDQ, captained by Drew Herrington, raised $625,000 in 2024, for the cause.
Proceeds will go directly to Hogs for the Cause, helping families across the country. The nonprofit works with both local and national children’s hospitals, including Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, Ochsner Hospital for Children, Duke Children’s Hospital and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Most recently, Hogs for the Cause has announced a monumental milestone—a $1,000,000 gift to establish the third Hogs House, this time at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Marking the first Hogs House outside of Louisiana, this housing will provide essential patient housing for families whose children require extended hospital care. With this transformative donation, Hogs for the Cause has now surpassed $12.5 million in total giving, underscoring their ongoing commitment to supporting pediatric patients and their families throughout the Gulf South.
The fundraising doesn’t stop at St. Roch Market. Hogs for the Cause will host its annual festival at the UNO Lakefront Arena on April 4-5, 2025.
With live music and local brews, the two-day event brings together 85 of the best BBQ teams in the region to compete in categories such as Whole Hog, Ribs, Pork Butt/Shoulder, Porkpourri, Sauce, Fan Favorite and Fundraising Champion.
