(KRON) — The Pinole Police Department (PPD) is looking for a man who tried to break into a garage then fired multiple rounds at the homeowner after a car pursuit Friday morning.
Police received reports at 5:30 a.m. of “gunfire and a man yelling” in the 2300 block of Simas Avenue. Moments later, a woman from the 3200 block of Estates Avenue called police reporting that her husband had been shot. When officers arrived at the scene, they located the victim suffering from leg gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition, said PPD.
Investigators learned the victim discovered the suspect breaking into his garage, while a vehicle occupied with additional people was parked in front of his house. The vehicle fled when the victim confronted them, after which he followed them in his car. The chase came to a halt on Simas Court where “the suspect fired multiple rounds at the victim”, striking him and his car. The wounded husband crashed his car into a fence, said Pinole police.
Police said the gunman was in his 20s and wore a mask. His vehicle was a dark-colored four-door sedan.
