BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Sabres are coming home on a winning streak. And in playoff position a quarter of the way through the season.
Alex Tuch’s short-handed goal in the third period lifted Buffalo to its third consecutive victory Saturday night in San Jose. Dylan Cozens got the tying goal earlier in the third period, Peyton Krebs also scored, and Rasmus Dahlin had an empty-net goal to go along with an assist in the 4-2 comeback win. Bowen Byram had two assists, and James Reimer made 31 saves against his former team in his first start for the Sabres.
Following wins in Los Angeles on Wednesday and Anaheim on Friday night, the Sabres (11-9-1) are now tied for third in the Atlantic Division standings and seventh in the Eastern Conference with 23 standings points in 21 games. On pace for 90 points, that could be enough for Buffalo to end its 13-year postseason drought.
The Sabres completed the rare California sweep, without top center Tage Thompson in the lineup. The only other time Buffalo won road games at San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles in the same season came in 2011-12.
Now 7-1-0 against Western Conference teams, Buffalo will play two more at home this week against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday night and the Vancouver Canucks on Friday.
