COURTLAND, Ala. (WHNT) — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said its Swift Water Rescue team helped rescue a man stranded on his roof in flood waters.
Around 1 a.m. on September 15, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said the Swift Water Rescue Team was asked to help the Courtland Fire Department with a man stranded on top of his truck.
The sheriff’s office said the man was stranded on County Road 150.
The Morgan County Rescue Squad’s Swift Water Rescue Team was also called to help in the situation. The team brought a rescue boat to the scene to help retrieve the stranded man.
The rescue took a total of five hours and the man was rescued safely with no injuries.
Lawrence County Sheriff Max Sanders said to use caution and to ‘turn around, don’t drown’ as roads were beginning to flood after a lot of rainfall.
