ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Could a Missouri Congressman be joining the Trump cabinet? According to reports from Politico and Missourinet, Missouri U.S. Rep. Sam Graves is being seriously considered for the position of U.S. Transportation Secretary.
Graves has also made his interest known in a Trump cabinet position via social media platform X, saying Saturday, “It’s an honor to be considered.”
Sam Graves was first elected to his House seat back in 2000. Throughout his tenure, he has represented portions of western and northern Missouri, most notably St. Joseph.
In recent years, Graves has climb the ranks of a House committee specifically devoted to transportation issue. He currently serves as the chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, a position he’s held since 2021.
Graves is also a commercially licensed pilot and will often use his own airplane to fly around his district, which is the largest by size in the state.
As FOX 2 reported earlier this week, another Missouri U.S. Congressman, Sen. Eric Schmitt, has had his name thrown around as a possible contender to serve as attorney general under the next Trump administration.
