BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The remains of a man who went missing in Niagara Falls in 1995 have been identified, authorities announced Thursday.
The remains of the 46-year-old man were recovered in the Niagara River by the Niagara Regional Police Service in Canada in June 1995 after he went missing earlier that month. At the time of the disappearance, Canadian officials were not made aware of it and the connection was not made.
Police were contacted by the DoeNetwork in 2023 for a possible match. After forensic samples, the remains were positively identified over the summer this year ahead of Thursday’s announcement.
The family plans to place a headstone on the grave in Canada.
