(KRON) — A 43-year-old man accused of contacting children on multiple occasions outside of a Redwood City school was arrested Wednesday, according to the Redwood City Police Department.
Officers were called to Hoover School at 1:41 p.m. Tuesday on a report of an unknown man talking to girls and “asking them to get in his car,” Redwood City PD said. During the investigation, police learned of other previously unreported incidents over the last year with at least two different children.
A vehicle believed to belong to the suspect was captured on video surveillance in the area, police said. An ensuing search did not locate the suspect.
On Wednesday evening around 6:13 p.m., detectives found the suspect, identified as Erick Vasquez, 43, of Redwood City, in the area of Spring Street and Scott Avenue. Hoover School, located at 701 Charter Street, is only blocks away.
Vasquez was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor and communicating with a minor to commit a lewd act.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Erik Ottersen at (650)-780-7620 or EOttersen@redwoodcity.org.
