NORTH RIVERSIDE, Ill. — A mall in the western suburbs has officially launched a new look after undergoing nearly $9 million in renovations.
A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday morning at North Riverside Park Mall to reveal its redesign space, just ahead of the holiday shopping season.
“The Village values the significant investment the Feil Organization is making in our community and the North Riverside Park Mall to ensure that it continues to be a regional destination for shopping, dining and entertainment,” said North Riverside Mayor Joseph Mengoni. “As we celebrate the completion of this project, I look forward to our on-going partnership with Mall leadership for future redevelopment opportunities that will continue to modernize the property.”
Developers made $9 million in renovations, including new flooring throughout the mall, new ceilings, common area lighting and furnishings, and a revamped main entrance.
The mall began its transformation in February. Additional renovation projects are slated for 2025 and expected to be announced later.
“Since opening 49 years ago, North Riverside Park Mall has been a gathering place for shoppers in the near west suburbs and throughout the Chicagoland area, and now we’re delighted to have this vibrant space updated to continue that warm welcome for visitors,” said Glenn Lindholm, general manager of North Riverside Park Mall. “The mall reflects these changes as a new, modern shopping center for shoppers, diners, entertainment-seekers, and merchants to enjoy.”
The renovations come at a time when many malls throughout the country are failing, but investors said the facelift was worth it.
