ST. LOUIS – Two lion statues guard the entryway to an ornate $4.2 million mansion for sale in the city’s DeBaliviere Place neighborhood.
The home built in 1895 features 6 beds and 5 baths alongside a third-floor ballroom and eight fireplaces. Throughout the palace-like home, elaborate stonework, Corinthian columns and coffered ceilings speak to the era it was built in.
According to the listing, its design even influenced structures built for the 1904 World’s Fair spotlighting it as a St. Louis architectural treasure.
“Recognized as a city landmark since 1973, 9 Washington Terrace remains one of St. Louis’ most prestigious and architecturally significant homes,” the listing said.
The 9,416 square foot home has been on the market since October 25 and also features a private, in-ground swimming pool and three-car garage. The home has also received recent renovations, including a new kitchen and restored hardwood floors.
