The MTA is boosting weekend train service to accommodate an expected increase in the number of leaf peepers and oyster lovers ducking out of the city this weekend.
The 41st annual Oyster Fest is expecting thousands of extra people to take the train to Oyster Bay, Long Island. There, they will find oyster shucking, oyster eating contests, live music and craft beer.
The LIRR is adding three additional trains each way on both Saturday and Sunday.
Metro North is also expecting crowds for near perfect weather and near peak foliage peeping.
The MTA is adding two more round-trip trains heading up along the Hudson River running every 30 minutes.
The agency says the addition means it’s running more trains than ever to its weekend service.
