NORRISTOWN, PA – Montgomery County has announced that its fourth annual Art and Poetry of Freedom Contest is now open for applications. The contest encourages K through 12th grade students from across Montgomery County to use their creativity as a means to drive positive change in their world.
This theme for this year’s contest is Hope in Action. All students in Montgomery County public, private, parochial, or home schools are invited to submit their own unique works of art and poetry speaking to that theme. Submissions will be accepted until Friday, May 16 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
The Art and Poetry of Freedom Contest began in 2022 (then called the Art and Prose of Freedom Contest). Since its inception, hundreds of young artists have shared their talents through painting and the written word.
This year, winners will be chosen from two submission categories (poetry and art) and from across four age brackets:
- Grade Level I: K – 2nd Grades
- Grade Level II: 3rd – 5th Grades
- Grade Level III: 6th – 8th Grades
- Grade Level IV: 9th – 12th Grades
All participants will receive a certificate of participation. Winners will receive $100 gift cards, and 1st place prizes will be awarded at the County’s Juneteenth Flag Raising event in June 2025.
