NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County has taken a strategic step toward boosting revenue from grants and foundational partnerships with the launch of a Grants and Development Office. Joining the County to spearhead these efforts will be Jasmine Leatherberry, an experienced grants and compliance professional.
Grants and Development will aggressively pursue a wide range of grant funding opportunities, enabling the County to better support its ongoing programs and create ambitious new programs to serve residents. The County has always sought grant funding to complement its budget, but dedicated grants personnel will provide greater capacity across departments to identify and write grants, while ensuring compliance.
“This new office is an investment in the County’s efforts to bring in additional resources for the varied scope of programs and services we provide to residents,” said Jamila H. Winder, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “Ultimately, we’re looking to take the burden off taxpayers by actively sourcing new potential funding avenues. Our new Senior Grants and Development Manager Jasmine Leatherberry brings extensive state and federal grants management and compliance experience to the County, along with experience in deepening relationships with stakeholders and potential funders.”
“As County Commissioners we have ambitious plans for serving Montgomery County’s communities, and this includes leveraging federal, state, foundational funding, and more, to achieve our goals,” said Neil Makhija, County Commissioner. “We are strongly positioned to take advantage of multiple opportunities. Our new Senior Grants and Development Manager Jasmine Leatherberry will support all departments at the County to actively and effectively pursue funding opportunities, build partnerships for development, and ensure continual reporting and grants compliance.”
Jasmine Leatherberry has a background in grants management and compliance, including for the federal Centers for Disease Control and the State of Georgia, and most recently consulting with corporate and business clients to provide technical assistance on grant management and reporting.
“Pursuing increased funding from grants and private partnerships is a fiscally responsible course of action,” said Thomas DiBello, County Commissioner. “This will allow the County to enact measures to offset budget spending with additional financing towards key programs, and hopefully alleviating costs to taxpayers.”
