Some neighbors are upset and scared after a rowdy pool party took over the streets of a quiet Prince George’s County neighborhood on Saturday.
A couple moved to their home in the Canter Creek neighborhood in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, for its peaceful, neighborly atmosphere.
Now, Inga Jackson says the pool party that drew in hundreds of people Saturday afternoon was not what neighbors wanted, calling the party “out of control.” She said plenty of people host parties in the neighborhood but this one was different.
Blurred videos sent to News4 show some of the behavior in the neighborhood, including someone urinating in a neighbor’s yard. Loud music and laughter can be heard in the background of some videos and people are seen dancing surrounded by cars on the street.
“They were dancing on my neighbors’ yards over here,” Jackson said. “They’re riding through the circle, dancing in the cars on the way out, walking through the community with open bottles of alcohol.”
Attendees told neighbors they paid $30 to get in and the party had a DJ and security.
Prince George’s County police were called multiple times and the pool party was eventually shut down.
“We just want to stay private and enjoy our community that we’ve all invested quite a bit of money and you know, here in Prince George’s, we pay a whole lot of taxes,” Jackson said.
News4 knocked on the door of the house where the party was held but no one answered.
Maryland-National Capital Park police confirmed that once the party was broken up, many of the young people ended up at a nearby park in the Canter Creek community. They were told once again to go home.
Neighbors have called everyone from the county police to HOA attorneys to try to figure out what they can do to stop a party like this from happening again.
Jackson said that during an emergency Zoom meeting on Sunday, some residents said they were scared.
“If anyone from the county is watching…help us render this,” Jackson said. “Help us rectify this. Help us get this out of our community.”
Prince George’s County’s Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement confirmed it is investigating a complaint about the party. Police have not made any arrests or issued any citations.
