Mucho Loco, a new Mexican restaurant in Little Rock’s Heights neighborhood, opened this weekend in the space formerly occupied by Copper Mule Table & Tap at 5705 Kavanaugh Blvd.
It features a reasonably priced lunch menu served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. There are several vegetarian options and at least seven nacho varieties (supreme fajita, vegetarian, shrimp and chorizo, to name a few). Specialty items include birria stew served with tortillas, quesabirria tacos, chilaquiles, carnitas and more. The restaurant also has a large selection of margaritas and specialty cocktails.

When Kevin Shalin of The Mighty Rib first posted about the restaurant’s pending arrival on his blog earlier this month, people jumped into the comment section with opinions about what new restaurants “we need” or what restaurants the Heights “doesn’t need.” Some commenters complained about the lack of variety on offer in the Heights, considering there are two other Mexican-inspired restaurants on the same strip of Kavanaugh.
Heights Taco & Tamale from the Yellow Rocket Concepts restaurant group, serves a self-proclaimed “Ark-Mex”-style cuisine just a block away. And Baja Grill, at the west end of the strip, owned by Heather Baber-Roe and Craig Roe of the Taco Society restaurant group, serves “Mexi-Cali” inspired fare.
Others in the comment section came to the defense of the new restaurant.
Baber-Roe, of neighboring Baja Grill, wrote: “We at Baja welcome them! The Heights will have an Ark Mex spot, our MexiCali spot, and now, authentic Mexican. All 3 different fares … all 3 sound great to us.”
Facebook user El Trucko Stucko received 185 likes for their comment: “For everyone complaining about the type of restaurant please take a moment to think about the person(s) putting their hard work and money into opening what is likely their dream, to come here and see people complaining about their business before it opens. I don’t recall any complaints about Problem Child Pizza given the multiple choices we have for pizza.”
We’re excited to give it a try this week. Mucho Loco’s hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. You can follow the restaurant on Facebook here.
