More Davidson County homeowners than ever before are eligible to lock their property tax payments from rising or to receive payment relief. However, the application deadline is fast-approaching.
There are just a few weeks left to apply for the Property Tax Freeze and Tax Relief programs’ before the April 5th, 2025 deadline. Metropolitan Trustee Erica S. Gilmore is committed to reaching out to ensure that all eligible Nashvillians are aware of these financial savings and encouraged to apply.
There are some key program overview points you should be aware of. The Property Tax Freeze locks in property tax payment amounts, preventatively stopping the parcel’s taxes to rise as a result of reappraisals. Older Davidson County property owners, ages 65 and up, whose 2023 qualified income did not exceed $60,000 are eligible for this benefit. With cyclical property tax reappraisals falling later this year, waiting to apply for this program next year could be a costly mistake.
Unlike the Tax Freeze program, there are three ways to meet the Tax Relief program eligibility criteria. 100% disabled veterans who became disabled through service (or their surviving spouses) can apply. Also, homeowners ages 65 and up, along with homeowners who are disabled (through the Social Security Administration) whose 2023 qualified income did not exceed $36,370 can receive this relief.
Davidson County homeowners are encouraged to apply now through the Office of Metropolitan Trustee, which is located in the Howard Office Building, President Ronald Reagan Way, Suite 220, Nashville, TN 37210.
The Documents required to successfully apply for the programs can be found Metropolitan Trustee Erica S. Gilmore’s website, Nashville.gov/trustee or by calling the Trustee’s Office at 615-862-6330. Don’t wait; go online and/or call today.
