MISHIMA, Japan – The University of Hawai’i men’s golf team improved three strokes in round two of the Pan Pacific Super League Tournament and moved into a tie for fifth place following Thursday’s second round.
The Rainbow Warriors carded a 309 and are 45-over 621 for the tournament and are tied with Central Michigan, the only other Division I program in the 15-team field. Nihon University vaulted into the lead in the team standings at 1-under 575 after a second round 290 and are 12 strokes ahead of first round leader Waseda University (587).
Dane Watanabe continues to the lead the UH contingent despite an 80 on Thursday and is in 22nd place at 11-over 155. Tyler Ogawa posted the low round of the day for the Warriors at 76 and is tied for 23rd place at 12-over 156 along with teammate Garrett Takeuchi.
James Whitworth and Josh Hayashida are tied for 27th at 13-over 157.
The tournament concludes with the third round on Friday.
