A man died in the NYPD’s custody at the Central Courts Building in Brooklyn on Friday morning, according to police.
The 32-year-old man, who’d been charged with petty larceny, was discovered unconscious in the building around 8:25 a.m., police said. EMS responded and the man was pronounced dead, according to police.
The NYPD said it was not yet releasing the man’s identity, pending notification of his family. It also didn’t release any information about any incident that may have preceded the man’s death.
Police said the city medical examiner’s office will determine the man’s cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing.
