BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – For one local family, their dreams really are coming true… as they get to take a trip to the most magical place on Earth.
5 -year-old Henry Nichols and family are at Novo Dolce in downtown Bowling Green for a huge party put on by the Dream Factory… but what are they going to do next?
“We’re going to Disney World!”
That’s right, this special boy and his family are getting the trip of a lifetime, heading to the happiest place on Earth, but just what exactly makes Henry so unique?
“Henry has trisomy 12P… we found out when he was about 4 weeks old, he was in the NICU… and super rare. There’s about 150 of them, but it’s a genetic condition on the 12th chromosome,” his mom Amber says.
After years of therapy, it turns out Henry has come a long way in his 5 short years of life.
“So he can walk without a walker now… and he’s been 2 and a half years seizure free,” Amber says.
His family is just as excited about taking the trip to Disney World as Henry is, especially since they haven’t been able to take a major trip like this.
Of course, this little boy can’t just love Mickey Mouse & all his friends, and his big brother will be the first to tell you that.
“His favorite topic is doors. He’s not happy when he can’t, like, reach the door when it’s open or anything… He will get so mad,” Teddy Nichols says.
One special member of the Dream Factory was on hand to provide Henry with his dream. He says he’s known Henry for a while, and he hopes he has loads of fun in Orlando.
“It warms your heart… you know, that this is something that he wanted to do and we were able to fulfill… and that’s what our mission is. So we look forward to the return trip and seeing how much fun that he had,” Nick Wilkins, a charter member of the Dream Factory in Bowling Green says.
