KANSAS CITY, Mo. — If you want to vote in the upcoming election but don’t have a way to get to the polls, then you are in luck because Kansas City is offering free rides on election day so you can uphold your civic duty.
According to a news release, the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority and IRIS — a local ride service — announced on Wednesday that they will be offering free rides to polling locations through “Vote Your Voice” — an initiative that emphasizes Kansas City’s commitment to providing residents with important and essential services.

When are transportation services open?
Date: Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024
Time: 30 minutes before polling locations open and 30 minutes after they close
- Vehicles will operate for the entire 14-hour election days to make sure all voting hours are covered.
What services is IRIS offering?
According to the City of Kansas City, IRIS is offering:
- Free Rides to Polling Stations: IRIS will provide free rides to and from polling stations, with virtual stops added near voting locations for added convenience.
- Expanded Fleet: To accommodate voters, the fleet will include ten additional vehicles, with four larger-capacity vehicles available for group transport.
- Voter Communication: To spread the word, IRIS will send push notifications and text messages to users on the Friday, Monday, and Tuesday before and on Election Day.
