WICHITA – Wichita native Taylor Jameson’s electric night led the Shockers to a 69-64 win over St. Thomas Saturday afternoon in Charles Koch Arena.
The graduate transfer put up 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals, hitting three three pointers for the second-straight game.
Two other Shockers finished in double figures as senior Ornella Niankan scored a season-high 11 points, and senior Aicha Ndour recorded her second 10-point game of the season and grabbed six rebounds.
Junior Bre’Yon White led Wichita State in rebounding for the third-consecutive game with a season-high 10 boards.
Senior Ella Anciaux player her most minutes of the season (15:57) and finished the day with eight points and five rebounds.
St. Thomas’s Jade Hill entered the game averaging 18 points per game, and the Shockers held her to just four, but Jo Langbehn scored almost half of the Tommies’ points with 30.
The Shockers got off to a slow start in the first half, shooting just 5-for-15 from the field in the first quarter. The Tommies led by as many as six in the second quarter before Wichita State went on a 20-2 run and ended the half with a Jameson half court buzzer beater to take a 12-point lead.

A Wichita State offensive slump in the third quarter allowed St. Thomas to tie it up at 47-all heading into the fourth, as the Tommies outscored the Shockers 21-9 in the period.
Wichita State opened the final quarter on an 8-0 run with the help of Jordan Jackson’s second three pointer of the day, the redshirt-sophomore first points as a Shocker.
Tommies Langbehn and Sammy Opichka combined for 15 of St. Thomas’s 17 fourth-quarter pointers, making it a one-point game four times down the stretch.
White came up with a big steal on an inbound play with 23 seconds remaining, and Jameson went on to hit 3-of-4 free throws to secure the Shockers’ second win of the season.
Wichita State improved to 2-2, and St. Thomas dropped to 3-2.
All but one win in the Terry Nooner era have come when holding opponents to less than 70 points.
Wichita State faces No. 9 Oklahoma Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. in Charles Koch Arena.
