In a headline-making move, Louis Vuitton has appointed Pharrell Williams as its new Men’s Creative Director. The high-profile position was no doubt hotly contested, as the late, great Virgil Abloh left exceptionally large shoes to fill. Abloh died in November 2021 at the age of 41.
After a morning of speculative reports, Louis Vuitton confirmed the stirring news in a press release. “I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home,” said Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s chairman and CEO. “His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.” Pharrell previously collaborated with the brand in the early 2000s. Mark your calendars: Pharrell’s debut collection will be shown in June during Paris men’s fashion week. It’s safe to say that will be a hot-ticket event.
