A fine catch by Rishabh Pant led Sameer Rizvi’s dismissal in Match 4 of IPL 2025 between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants at the ACA-VDCA Stadium on Monday, March 24.
A hint of turn and bounce was enough for Manimaran Siddharth to induce a feather of an edge behind to Pant, the former DC skipper. LSG skipper Pant reacted sharply and pouched a safe take with the gloves. Rizvi’s wicket was Siddharth’s first in his second season with LSG. The dismissal marked Pant’s 99th dismissal in the IPL.
Pant’s former franchise ended up losing one more wicket inside their powerplay. Despite that, they ended up scoring 58 during their pursuit of 210 for victory. Shardul Thakur struck twice in the opening over of the second innings to get rid of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel for 1 and 0, respectively.
Pant fails to fire on LSG debut
Earlier in the evening, Pant endured a tough outing in the first innings. He was dismissed for a six-ball duck, holing out to DC’s vice-captain Faf du Plessis at long-off. It was his fifth duck in the history of the IPL. Meanwhile, DC ended up scoring 209/8 at the end of their 20-over quota.
A couple of power-packed 70s from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran motored DC’s innings in Visakhapatnam. Kuldeep Yadav ended up as the most economical bowler for the DC outfit, conceding only 20 runs in his four overs while securing a couple of wickets. DC’s skipper Axar Patel was quite miserly too.
