Intense races, long ballot highlight Election Day

ST. LOUIS – Election Day is here, and voters will decide on a multitude of measures that will be presented on the ballot. Election officials predict heavy turnout for what they’re calling a record-length ballot.

Polls open at 6 a.m. on November 5th and will remain open until 7 p.m., with voters able to cast ballots at any polling location across St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Charles County.

One of the big issues driving people to polls Tuesday is Missouri Amendment 3. That is the measure that could restore some abortion rights in Missouri after the legislature passed very strict abortion restrictions in the state after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Another big ballot measure in Missouri is Amendment 2, which would legalize sports betting if it passes.

Voters will also get a chance to decide on candidates from multiple heated races. Missouri’s U.S. Senate race is in the spotlight as incumbent Republican Josh Hawley faces off against Democratic challenger Lucas Kunce. During a televised debate last week, Senator Hawley and the former Marine Kunce went back and forth for an hour discussing issues facing Missourians.

One of the biggest races on the ballot Tuesday is the race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. During their final campaign hours, Vice President Harris spent Monday in the key swing state of Pennsylvania while former President Trump held four rallies in three different swing states: North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Michigan before returning to Florida.
