(KRON) — The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) said a driver was caught after he struck a parking enforcement officer with his white Ford Van while getting a parking ticket.
SRPD said officers responded at 1:15 p.m. Thursday to Lot 4, a city-owned parking structure on the 600 block of 7th Street, for a report of a hit and run. The parking enforcement officer told police he was issuing a parking citation to the suspected van for “towing a trailer for blocking in several other vehicles in the parking garage.”
Investigators said the suspect was upset to find the citation being distributed, when he returned to the location, and “tried to drive off, hitting the parking enforcement officer in the process.” The victim received minor injuries and was treated and released at a nearby hospital, confirmed Santa Rosa police.
Investigators said the suspect’s vehicle was found a short time later at a Home Depot parking lot in Rohnert Park, and he was arrested by police when he left the store.
The driver, identified as 35-year-old Vincent Kimber of Oregon, was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
