Celtics
With three road games still remaining, Boston’s 31-7 record is already in the top 10 best away records in NBA history.

With three away games remaining on their schedule, the Celtics are already joining some of the great teams of NBA history in terms of road dominance.
Boston handled the Spurs in San Antonio on Saturday night, improving to 5-0 on its latest road trip and 31-7 on the road this season. Those 31 wins are already tied for the seventh most in a single season in NBA history.
The Celtics won’t be able to break the record for most road wins in a season, but they can tie it by winning their final three away contests this year. The 2015-16 record of 34 road wins was set by the Golden State Warriors, who also notched the most regular-season wins in NBA history that year. The 1996-97 Bulls recorded 33 road wins in their dominant season — the year that inspired the “Last Dance” title of the 10-part docuseries on Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and the Bulls.
If Boston can earn just one more road victory, it’ll tie a franchise record for road wins; both the 2007-08 and 1974-75 Celtics reached 32 wins on the road. Two more wins will move it into a tie with the Bulls for the second-most single-season wins.
“We’re following the gameplan and whatever we’re trying to attack or achieve that night,” Tatum said of Boston’s recent success. “We’re challenging ourselves right now, so the main focus is whatever game is in front of us.”
No matter what arena the Celtics play in, they have gotten plenty of love from fans this season. Audible “let’s go Celtics” chants often break out at road venues once Boston takes a commanding lead over its opponent, and the team hears and appreciates it.
“Shoutout to all the Celtics fans that travel,” Jaylen Brown said after Wednesday night’s win over the Suns. “Knowing how to win on the road is an experience thing. Definitely been able to be really good at it this year. … Going into the playoffs, we’re going to need to win some road games, so it’s great that we’ve been able to find some rhythm.”
Boston is seeing all its road success in a season that overall is actually slightly worse than its championship year in 2023-24. Last season, the Celtics went 64-18, compared to a 55-19 record with eight games to play this year. However, last season saw Boston dominate at home, going 37-4 at TD Garden in the regular season. This year, the script has been much different.
The Celtics’ final three road contests are against the Grizzlies — who just fired their coach despite being firmly in playoff position — as well as the Knicks and Magic. Boston is 4-0 against the Knicks this season but lost its only matchups against the Magic and Grizzlies respectively.
Still, all three contests are certainly winnable, and a 3-0 record would place the Celtics right alongside the Warriors as the best road seasons in NBA history.
