Authorities in Gwinnett County recently arrested 53 people in a large-scale operation targeting violent crime and gang activity.
The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement this week that “Operation One Star” was conducted by deputies working with local authorities from the Auburn, Lawrenceville, Lilburn and Norcross police departments, as well as federal agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration.
“During this operation, 53 people were arrested, including 5 validated or suspected gang members,” the release from the sheriff’s office said. “The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office prioritizes public safety by addressing violent crimes while upholding our mission to serve and protect.”
Dozens of pounds worth of illegal drugs were also reportedly seized in the operation, including:
- 12 kilograms of methamphetamine
- 2,000 grams of liquid narcotics
- 561 grams of marijuana
- 193 grams of cocaine
- 148.5 grams of prescription pills
Over $47,000 of U.S. currency were also reportedly seized, along with 13 firearms.
