Von Wagner is back—and this time, he’s trading the black-and-gold of NXT for the red ropes of Ring of Honor.
Now going by his real name, Cal Bloom, the former WWE NXT standout appeared on the April 3, 2025 episode of ROH on HonorClub, teaming with indie talent Deonn Rusman in a losing effort against the Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona). The appearance marked a full-circle moment, coming exactly one year and one day after Wagner’s last match in WWE—where he took a loss to Lexis King on the April 2, 2024 edition of NXT.
Wagner had been a featured act on NXT before being released in 2024. Known for his size, intensity, and gritty promos, Bloom had gradually built a cult following during his run under the Von Wagner moniker. And while the WWE chapter may have ended, he’s wasting no time writing the next one.
Rusman, his tag partner in the match, is a graduate of Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Wrestling Academy, giving this team a unique mix of pedigrees. Bloom, for his part, is the son of Wayne Bloom—aka Beau Beverly of the 1990s Beverly Brothers in WWE—proving wrestling really is in his blood.
Just last month, Bloom made his post-WWE debut at a Midwest All-Star Wrestling event, defeating Shay Diesel in his first match since being let go. His ROH appearance seems to signal he’s looking to make his way back up through the ranks—starting with Tony Khan’s wrestling universe.
With more former WWE names showing up in AEW and ROH, fans are wondering—could this be the beginning of a new chapter for Von Wagner under his real name? Or will this ROH appearance be a one-off?
Are you surprised to see Von Wagner back so soon? Should Tony Khan give Cal Bloom a bigger spotlight in ROH or even AEW? Drop your thoughts and feedback in the comments—we’re reading everything.
