Ricochet, now with AEW, has offered a controversial perspective on Travis Scott’s involvement in the WWE Elimination Chamber incident, where Scott notably slapped Cody Rhodes during the Rock-Cena alignment.
The incident occurred after Rhodes rejected The Rock’s offer, leading to The Rock enlisting John Cena. Cena, having just won the Men’s Elimination Chamber and secured a WrestleMania title shot against Rhodes, shockingly turned heel and attacked Rhodes.
The assault escalated with The Rock using a belt and Travis Scott delivering a slap that reportedly ruptured Rhodes’s eardrum, requiring an earplug for Rhodes’s subsequent entrance. While many criticized Scott’s actions, Ricochet, speaking with Adrian Hernandez of Unlikley, offered a different viewpoint, suggesting that Rhodes received what he deserved.
“No, no. That’s Cody. He got what he deserved—got smacked in the face. You go out there, and you want to taunt and scream profanities in people’s faces, they say ‘F you,’ and you’re going to get smacked. And that’s what happened.
He had his hand down, head down—smacked him. Keep talking. Ain’t going to happen to me, though. I’m going to be the one doing the smacking.”

Ricochet’s transition from WWE to AEW in August 2024 was marked by a surprise debut at the All In event, where he entered the Casino Gauntlet match. He quickly became involved in a feud with Konosuke Takeshita over the AEW International Championship.
Despite several attempts to capture the title, including a three-way match at WrestleDream and a singles match at Full Gear, Ricochet was unsuccessful. This is when things turned around for him.
Ricochet went heel. Swerve Strickland publicly humiliated Ricochet, sparking a heated rivalry. This rivalry intensified in early 2025, culminating in Ricochet’s definitive heel turn when he attacked Strickland with a pair of scissors.
The feud escalated further with Ricochet stealing Strickland’s ceremonial robe. Their conflict reached its end at AEW’s Revolution event in March 2025, where Strickland ultimately defeated Ricochet. Fans have praised the bout and the performance of both guys as Strickland became the new #1 contender for the World Title.
