It’s become a common occurrence to see athletes from other sports make their way to professional wrestling. This includes even boxing as their conditioning is perfect for the wrestling business and that’s why it’s not a surprise that former boxing World Champion Amir Khan has shown interest in a potential WWE run in the future.
Amir Khan is a former boxing champion and he retired in 2022 with an impressive record of 34 wins out of 40 fights. In 2023, he received a two-year ban for a doping violation and that startled fans. Since retiring, Khan has focused on being a promoter and exploring new opportunities.
While speaking during an interview with Prime Casino, Amir Khan revealed his interest in joining WWE. He talked about how he loved watching professional wrestling as a child when it was called WWF. Khan remembered pretending to do wrestling moves like choke slams with his friends before starting his boxing career. He said WWE is something he would be excited to try and would gladly take the opportunity if it came his way.
“WWE is something we have been watching since we were young kids. I remember back when it was called WWF. Yeah, definitely. I’d love to give that a little bit of a try. It’s all entertainment. That’d be some fun, eh? I would not say no to that. That is something I’d jump at. It’s something I’ve been watching for a very long time, even before I got into boxing, we all used to watch with our big pillows and doing the choke slams and you name it. It’d be nice and something I would never say no to.”
Amir Khan wouldn’t be the first boxer to make their way to WWE. The company has previously collaborated with big names like Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather. Tyson Fury has also appeared several times on WWE shows over the years, so Khan would certainly fit in like a glove if he gets an opportunity. Therefore, fans will simply have to wait and see if Khan joins WWE in the future.
