ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – The school board for East Allen County Schools (EACS) held a public hearing Tuesday to discuss plans for the upcoming school years as far ahead as 2027.
Board members detailed their 2025 budget, bus replacement plans and capital projects plan for 2025, 2026, and 2027.
For next year, officials budget $161 million total with almost R30 million allocated for the debt service fund, $94 million for the education fund and more than $37 million for the operations fund.
They also plan to contintue to add to their extensive fleet of buses. Currently, they have 129 buses in total with 23 on order.
The district plans to sell three by the end of the year leaving a total of 149 buses.
Tuesday’s meeting was just a public hearing as they will vote to adopt these plans at next month’s board meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
