NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Fire Department is investigating a fire that happened in the New Orleans East neighborhood Tuesday morning, March 25.
Around 9:38 a.m., NOFD officials were alerted to a fire at the corner of S. Telemachus and Palmyra streets. Firefighters arrived at 9:42 a.m. to find a two-story, multi-unit unoccupied home with flames in the rear.
Firefighters said the flames had breached the roof of the dilapidated home making for “operational hazards.”
NOFD officials reported over a dozen propane tanks were also found and removed from the home’s second floor.
In total, nine NOFD units carrying 25 personnel were able to get the flames under control by 10:11 a.m.
Additionally, a nearby two-story duplex received minor damage to its siding from the radiant heat.
No injuries were reported.
