NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Lafitte man dead in New Orleans on Sunday, Sept. 8.
The LSP reported that the crash happened on the Crescent City Connection Bridge around 9 a.m.
LSP officials said an initial investigation shows 69-year-old Andrew Perrin was driving a Toyota and entering U.S. 90 B east from the General DeGaulle Drive on-ramp while a Kia was heading east on U.S. 90B.
The Toyota then reportedly crossed the eastbound lanes and drove into the path of the Kia, causing it to hit the side of the Toyota. Both cars then traveled off the road and a cement barrier.
Perrin suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The driver of the Kia suffered minor injuries.
LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
