If today’s Connections puzzle has you stumped, you’ve come to the right place. Newsweek has helpful hints so you can conquer the game.
The brainteaser was released on June 12, 2023 by The New York Times and has since become the newspaper’s second most popular game. Currently sitting in first place is Josh Wardle‘s Wordle.
Earlier this year, Connections developer and NYT crossword editor, Wyna Liu, told Newsweek that Connections‘ popularity was “overwhelming and unexpected.”
“It’s exciting that something I care very deeply about is resonating with people,” she shared.

How to Play ‘Connections’
If you’re new to Connections, it won’t take long to learn the rules of the game.
To start, players are given a table of 16 words, which they must divide into four groups of four based on common characteristics and put into categories.
The categories range in difficulty, with yellow considered the easiest and purple considered the hardest. Green and blue are medium difficulty.
For instance, in Friday’s puzzle, the words “perplex,” “puzzle,” “stump” and “vex” were associated with the category, “Baffle.” This was a yellow category.
Once you’ve decided on your four words, click the “Submit” button. If your submission is correct, the terms will flash in the category color and will be removed from the board. If they are incorrect, however, they will be gray in color and remain on the table.
There is no time limit for the game, so you’re free to spend your Saturday mulling over the answers. That being said, players only get four guesses before the answers will be revealed.
